Plans are well underway for our new season, which commences on September 1st 2015. We’re hoping to revisit Kenmare Choral Festival where we had a fantastic weekend last year, and also to defend our winning title at Midleton’s Feile an tSamhraidh.

In addition we’ll be hosting our annual Interchoral evening in February, and are organising a table quiz for later this autumn.

We’d be delighted to welcome new members – especially if you are either a tenor or bass. For more information email us at, or phone/text our secretary Sue O’Reilly on 086-3269557.

A New Season!

We’re getting close now to starting our fourth season as Barony Choir and the excitement is building. We have great plans for the year, including competitions and fun interchoral events.

We start back on Tuesday, September 2nd at 7:45pm. If you would like to join us, or find out a bit more about us, email or call our Secretary Sue O’Reilly on 086 3269557.

Meanwhile, check out this link to our performance in May :

2013/14 Season

We’re now on our Summer break, following a very eventful year. We not only hosted our first Inter-Choral evening at the Midleton Park Hotel, which was a great success, we also entered two competitions. Firstly there was the prestigious Cork International Choral Festival where we scored a respectable 82.5%, closely followed by our Second Place at Midleton’s Feile an tSamhraidh, scoring 88%.

We reconvene on September 2nd, and have plans for a very busy year ahead. Anyone wishing to join us should send an email to

Our first Interchoral!

Since our formation in 2011 we’ve attended many other choirs’ interchoral events but, on February 28th 2014, we hosted one ourselves for the first time.

Ten choirs (including Barony Choir) performed on the night at Midleton Park Hotel, and I think we can safely say it was a roaring success and enjoyed by all who participated or attended.

In addition to the singing there was a quiz, and a raffle with some excellent prizes. Delicious hot food was served during the interval to keep up our strength.

Such was the success of the evening that we’ve decided to do it all over again next February, so look out for details closer to the time.

Hi there, we’re up and running again, and we’ve loads going on!!

We have a new conductor, Elaine Kelly from Mallow.  Elaine has completed her Masters in Conducting in Cork School of Music, and conducts orchestras in addition to choirs around Cork.

We’re having a fund-raising raffle to raise some much-needed funds, and the draw is taking place on Saturday Oct. 19th in Market Green in Midleton at 3pm.  We’ll be performing a few songs also to entertain the shoppers.

We’re planning an Inter Choral evening for early in the new year. And we’re planning to take part in a CD recording in association with Cope Foundation and Voices of Cork.

From a performance perspective we had a quietish year last year, but this year we’ll be much more active, so watch out!

We’ve been tipping away over the summer months, putting some plans in place and making preparations for another exciting season for the Barony Choir.

This will be out third season in existence, and we’re delighted with the progress we’ve made to date.  The highlight of last season was singing in the Atrium at the Clarion Hotel in Cork; a ‘fringe’ event of the Cork International Choral Festival.

We’re recruiting new members for the new season at the moment, so of you sing in the shower and want to take it to the next level, why not contact us and join up?? 🙂

We’ll be starting back in early September, we practice on Tuesday Evenings from around 7.45.
So, if you’re thinking of trying something new this Autumn, give Choral Singing a go, and you’ll be delighted you did. Honestly!!

If you’re interested, contact us by email on give us your phone number in the email, and we’ll call you back.

The work continues

Well, we’ve broken up for the summer, but that doesn’t mean that everything has stopped!

The committee continues to meet, and several exciting projects are being investigated and progressed:

  • We’re reviewing our practice location
  • We’re working on two fund raising projects
  • We’re planning a trip
  • We’re also working on recruiting some new members, so more about that in the near future.

So while it looks like it’s all quiet, we’re like the swans; all quiet and sedate above the waterline and paddling like bejayzus down below!

Check back soon for more updates.

Another year over

Well, our second season came to a close last night with our final practice, and while some members are looking forward to the summer break, I know a few others went home wondering what they’ll do with themselves for the next 13 Tuesday evenings until we resume on September 3rd. 🙂

We had a short rehearsal last evening, followed by a review of the 2012/2013 season.  While we didn’t have as many performances as we had hoped, we are all delighted with the progress we’ve made musically, and our repertoire has grown substantially during the season.  We also looked ahead to 2013/2014 season, and are excited and looking forward to a busy season which will include participating in some competitions which will be another new step for us.

We have one (little) event left to bring our season to a close.  Our Summer Barbecue is on June 7th and we’re all looking forward to that.

Finally, if you want to check out our singing, we’ve posted a couple of videos on Youtube, and you can see them at

We are on the lookout for new members, so if you want to join a friendly choir that’s going places, contact us on

Well, we had a great outing to the Atrium in the Clarion Hotel in Cork city yesterday.

We did five songs:

  • Fly me to the moon
  • You’ve got a friend
  • Here comes the Sun
  • Close to you
  • Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho
We had planned to finish with Fix You, the Coldplay classic, but unfortunately we couldn’t fit all the songs into the available slot.

The ‘Afternoons at the Atrium’ events were organised by Cork International Choral Festival, and we are delighted to have been involved with event which had choirs from Russia, Poland, Belarus and Ireland participating.

We’re approaching the end of our season now, we’ve had great fun, and enjoyed learning a great variety of material.

We’re already looking forward to our third season starting in September 2013.

Afternoons in the Atrium

We are delighted to announce that we will be singing in the Clarion Hotel in Cork City on Sunday May 5th as part of  ‘Afternoons in the Atrium’ one of the many events being organised as part of the Cork International Choral Festival.

We will perform five or six songs, a mix of contemporary, popular and gospel numbers.

We’re scheduled to begin at about 4.30pm, so why not come along and have a listen?
